Do you like art? Then you can only imagine what you are being censored from. Currently, Zhi Kai's art is being HELD HOSTAGE by the Minnesota Department of Corrections deemed contraband, HIPAA violation and marked for destruction. He is not even being allowed to mail it out. What goes into prison is censored, but the public should get a choice to see his art if desired. His art was confiscated prior to an "Art from the Inside" exhibition. Zhi Kai's art depicts an 88 year old inmate after years of imprisonment, she had a stroke and is more dangerous to herself than to society. The piece also talks about prison pregnancy and not less police but more training; it is entitled "Who Decides?" He also drew an LGBTQ piece with nudity stating 'love ' in Braille, entitled "Love is Blind". What is the Department so afraid of you seeing or knowing? Taxpayers should be allowed to view prisoner art if so desired and he should be allowed to mail it out.
Zhi Kai Hoffman Vanderford has been incarcerated 54 years in the wrong body (transmale/ becoming male) and 35 consecutive years between California, Oklahoma, and Minnesota women's prisons.
